The Housing Trust's Mission

The mission of the Orange County Housing Trust (OCHT) is to collaborate with the public and private sectors to provide programs, resources and advocacy designed to establish a regional solution to the growing demand for affordable workforce housing options in Orange County and throughout Southern California.

Housing Trust Objectives

Serve as a non-profit depository for the collection and disbursement of funds from the public and private sectors dedicated to increasing the inventory of affordable and workforce housing in Orange County and Southern California.

Provide meaningful financing options in the form of lower cost 2nd TDs and down payment assistance to improve the ability of Orange County residents to fulfill their dream of becoming homeowners.

Provide attractive predevelopment financing to builders of affordable housing to assist in the acquisition of land and pre-construction activities that will boost the inventory of lower cost housing options.

Help as much as possible to reduce traffic congestion on the county’s freeways and surface streets by utilizing its homebuyer program to move homeowners closer to their work.

Help maintain and improve the county’s workforce and therefore its economy by expanding the variety of housing options for such workers as teachers, firemen and police officers, librarians, nurses, food and tourist industry employees, and other important members of the county’s labor pool.

Provide leadership and advocacy for the county’s and Southern California’s affordable housing community and affordable and workforce housing initiatives.
