Inititatives
Help maintain and improve the county’s workforce by expanding the variety of housing options for such workers as teachers, firemen and police officers, librarians, nurses, food and tourist industry employees, and other important members of the county’s labor pool.
- Seek innovative solutions, such as our Home Again Initative, to the county’s and Southern California’s workforce housing needs by promoting such concepts as affordable housing preservation and acquisition and reuse of foreclosed properties through such resources as auctions and REO opportunities.
- Provide attractive predevelopment financing to builders and non-profit entities involved in the development of affordable housing to assist in the acquisition of land and pre-construction activities that will boost the inventory of lower cost housing options.
- Provide leadership and advocacy for the county’s affordable housing community and workforce housing initiatives through collaboration and promotion of such programs as Employer Assisted Housing.
- Serve as a non-profit depository for the collection and disbursement of funds from the public and private sectors dedicated to increasing the inventory of affordable and workforce housing in Orange County.
- Help as much as possible to reduce traffic congestion on the county’s freeways and surface streets vis-à-vis state mandates by utilizing its homebuyer program to move homeowners closer to their work, i.e. Proximity Housing.
